ü     Sunday 9/14/2008- The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m., immediately after breakfast.  Please make sure all your items are packed and are ready to be picked-up by 8:00 a.m. from your room.

Border Crossing

To cross the border you will need a passport.

If you don’t have one already, please make sure you obtain a valid Passport for next year.  Please see the Links tab on our website for information on how to apply for a Passport.

Luggage

Please make sure you tag all luggage, tackle boxes, rod cases, etc. with your name.

Medical Form

For your safety, the Club suggests you complete the Medical Form (click here for MS Word or .pdf copy) and bring it with you.  Completion of this form is voluntary. The information will remain confidential and will be use only for medical emergencies. The form will be collected at breakfast on Thursday.

Money Exchange Rate

The exchange rate for Canadian versus US dollars has narrowed considerably over the last couple years.  As a result, we can expect to pay a little more for items in Canada than we have in the past.

Alcohol on the Lakes

As a reminder, Ontario Law prohibits open containers of alcohol on boats. It is illegal to transport beverage alcohol in a boat unless the beverage alcohol is in a container that is unopened and the seal unbroken. In a boat, the beverage alcohol must be stored in a closed compartment.

Food

ü     Dining Room Hours of Operation:

·       Breakfast         7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

·       Lunch               11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

·       Dinner              5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

ü     Shore & sandwich lunches for Friday & Saturday should be ordered at dinner the evening before. They can be picked-up after your breakfast that morning.

Boats

ü     As noted in earlier correspondence, you are responsible for your own boat costs.  Please make sure you settle up with the front desk before leaving on Sunday morning. The rate for a 14 foot, 15 hp boat is $US 40 per day, per man (assumes 2 per boat).  Other rates apply for other boat types.

ü     The Marina is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Fish Weighing & Measuring

Official weighing & measuring of fish will be handled by Dudley at the Marina. The Marina is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Ice

Similar to last year, the club has adopted a policy of paying for one bag of ice per person for the trip. This should be enough for general use, given the number of fishermen per boat. Ice will be available at either the Lodge or the Marina.

Bait

Each boat is responsible for obtaining your own live bait.  Bait should be available through Dudley at the Marina or through other establishments nearby. This is subject to availability.

Walkie-Talkies

If you own small walkie-talkies, we encourage you to take them along for use on the lakes.  This will allow us to communicate to other members of the group. We will use channel 4, frequency 10.   Don’t forget to take necessary batteries.

Photographs

Anyone who takes photographs suitable for inclusion on the website are asked to forward them to Mike McGinnis at mcginnis@pa.net or Russ Faber at rafaber1@comcast.net.

“The Memorial Fish Fry” – Friday, 9/12/2008 – Noon

A Canada Fishing Club tradition for many years, please plan to join your fellow fishermen on Rosal Island (owned by Stirling Lodge) as we gather for some relaxation, camaraderie, and good times at our annual fish fry to honor those who, once among our ranks, are no longer with us.
